On November 11, 2024, in celebration of Veterans Day, Hurt Elementary held a Tribute honoring all branches of the U.S. Military. The ceremony began with the Pledge of Allegiance, the Presentation of Colors by the Gretna High JROTC, and a violin performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" by Music Instructor Madison Kirk.

After the opening, Retired U.S. Navy Seabees member Carter Lowry delivered a speech on “What is a Veteran,” emphasizing the dedication and sacrifices veterans have made for the future of America. Special guest Sergeant 1st Class Henry Crenshaw followed, sharing personal insights into his life and commitment to serving in the U.S. Military.

The ceremony continued with a flag performance by the Hurt Elementary Flag Line, after which the BETA Club gave a presentation on the different branches of the U.S. Military and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. To conclude the celebration, the Hurt Elementary Chorus performed three musical selections.

Thank you to all parents, students, staff, and community members for joining us in this celebration, and a special thank you to all veterans for their service and dedication to our nation.
